The Minister further detailed recent successes, including the arrest of two key traffickers from Haryana and Punjab in August, and two more individuals from Himachal Pradesh in October this year.

Dr. Jaishankar highlighted that the maximum number of trafficking cases are centered in Punjab. The State Government has responded by forming a Special Investigating Team and a fact-finding committee. According to information provided by Punjab, 25 FIRs have been lodged against 58 illegal travel agents, resulting in 16 arrests.

In Haryana, 2,325 cases related to trafficking have been registered, leading to 44 FIRs and 27 arrests. The Minister also noted the arrest of a significant trafficker by the Gujarat government. These coordinated efforts underscore the government’s resolve to combat cross-border human trafficking.
