India-Russia Trade Volume Surges to $63 Billion, Targets $100 Billion by 2030
New Delhi (ATP): Russian President Vladimir Putin’s forthcoming state visit to India is expected to see the signing of several key agreements, with high-end defence technology, including the S-400 missile system and the Su-57 fighter jet, topping the agenda.
According to reports, Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, addressing an online media briefing organized by Sputnik news agency today, confirmed that both the S-400s and the Su-57 fifth-generation aircraft are major points of discussion.
On the trade front, Mr. Peskov highlighted the significant growth in bilateral trade volume, which has reached $63 billion. He expressed confidence that this figure would surge to $100 billion by 2030, and stated that Russia is actively seeking ways to increase imports from India to achieve a better balance. Discussions will also focus on creating a necessary environment to ensure the smooth flow of oil trade.
Responding to a query on US tariffs and international pressure on India, the Kremlin spokesperson underscored the importance of bilateral relations remaining “free of any influence coming from third countries.” He praised India’s characteristic of being a “very sovereign country” and affirmed Moscow’s long-standing friendship and support for India throughout its journey.
