Trump Accepts Invitation to China in April After ‘Very Good’ Call with Xi Jinping

WASHINGTON, D.C: US President Donald Trump announced late Monday that he will travel to China in April 2026 at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. The announcement followed a “very good” phone conversation between the two leaders, signaling an intent to maintain high-level engagement between the two global powers.

The President disclosed the visit, and the details of the call, in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social. According to Trump, the call covered a range of critical issues, including:

Bilateral Agreements: The President stated the two sides had made “significant progress” in keeping recent agreements “current and accurate,” including a deal that he hailed as “good, and very important, deal for our Great Farmers.”

The phone conversation was a follow-up to their highly successful in-person meeting in South Korea just three weeks prior, which had resulted in a tentative agreement to de-escalate trade tensions.

In a move emphasizing sustained engagement, President Trump also announced he would host the Chinese leader for a reciprocal state visit in the United States later next year. He concluded that the relationship with China is “extremely strong.”

The scheduling of the state visits demonstrates a commitment from both Washington and Beijing to continue discussions and build on the momentum of their recent trade and diplomatic efforts, despite persistent geopolitical friction.
