OTTAWA, CANADA :External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr. S. Jaishankar utilized the sidelines of the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Canada to conduct a series of high-level bilateral meetings, focusing on strengthening India’s strategic partnerships with key global players.

The EAM’s engagements began with a meeting with his Canadian counterpart, Anita Anand, who is hosting the event. Dr. Jaishankar took to social media to congratulate Ms. Anand on successfully hosting the conference. He specifically highlighted and appreciated the recent progress made in implementing the New Roadmap 2025, expressing India’s eagerness to further rebuild and enhance the bilateral partnership between the two nations.

Dr. Jaishankar’s busy schedule also included meetings with leaders from Europe and the Americas, focusing on trade, technology, and strategic cooperation:

United Kingdom: In his meeting with UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, Dr. Jaishankar acknowledged the positive momentum in India-UK relations. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the India-UK Vision 2035, a framework designed to further deepen cooperation across critical areas of mutual interest.

France: The EAM took stock of the robust Strategic Partnership with French External Affairs Minister Jean-Noël Barrot. Their discussion centered on deepening cooperation in various multilateral and plurilateral formats, underscoring the enduring nature of the India-France relationship.

Mexico: Dr. Jaishankar met with Mexican Foreign Minister Dr. Juan Ramón de la Fuente to discuss concrete ways to advance cooperation. Key sectors identified for enhanced collaboration included business, trade, health and pharmaceuticals, and science and technology.

In addition to these focused meetings, Dr. Jaishankar also met with several other foreign ministers attending the event, including his counterparts from major economies and strategic partners: Mauro Vieira of Brazil, Johann Wadephul of Germany, and Ronald Lamola of South Africa.
