During a phone conversation, the two senior officials reviewed recent developments in ongoing consultations regarding the implementation of the U.S. peace plan for Gaza. Both ministers stressed the critical importance of unifying the administration of the West Bank and Gaza under a single Palestinian authority.

The ministers also discussed deliberations at the United Nations Security Council concerning the potential deployment of an international stabilisation force in Gaza. They emphasised that the mandate for any such force must be primarily focused on supporting robust recovery and reconstruction efforts within the coastal enclave.

Additionally, both Abdelatty and Al Thani reiterated their categorical rejection of continued Israeli settlement activities in the West Bank. They issued a warning that such actions pose a grave threat to peace and stability in the region.

The current ceasefire between Israel and Hamas took effect on October 10, following two years of conflict. The truce was successfully mediated by a joint effort involving Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and the United States.
