The two officials met at the State Department, following their initial discussion at the Indian Ambassador’s residence on Monday. Their talks focused on advancing the US-India partnership and aligning on shared priorities, according to statements from both sides.

The meeting comes as US President Donald Trump indicated plans to visit India soon, praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “great man” and his “friend.”

Kapur, an Indian-American diplomat recently confirmed as Assistant Secretary, highlighted the strong ties between the US and India, noting critical cooperation across multiple sectors. The shared interests discussed included trade, technology, energy, and regional security in South and Central Asia.

A seasoned diplomat and security expert, Mr. Kapur has a background working extensively on India-US strategic and defence engagements, placing the renewed focus on strategic and security partnership at the core of the diplomatic agenda.
