PM Modi Condoles Stampede Tragedy, Announced Ex-Gratia for Deceased and Injured from PMNRF

SRIKAKULAM: A tragic stampede at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Kashibugga, Srikakulam district, Andhra Pradesh, has claimed the lives of nine people.

The incident occurred today as a massive crowd of devotees gathered for Ekadashi darshan. Reports suggest the stampede was triggered after a railing collapsed under the pressure of the heavy rush, causing people to fall and panic. The deceased are reported to be from the Palasa and Kashibugga areas. The injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep shock over the incident, calling the loss of devotees’ lives “extremely painful.” He conveyed condolences and directed officials to ensure proper and speedy medical care for the injured, instructing local authorities to oversee relief measures at the site.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also condoled the loss of lives and announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh from PMNRF for the next of kin of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured.
