NSA Stresses Need to Protect Civil Society from Cyber Threats on Rashtriya Ekta Diwas

NEW DELHI: National Security Adviser Ajit Doval today highlighted the critical role of technology in governance and its potential to diminish the centralized power of the state.

Speaking at a lecture on the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) in Delhi, Mr. Doval emphasized that technology must be harnessed to serve the common citizen by ensuring greater transparency, accountability, and timely delivery of services, including effective grievance redressal.

The National Security Adviser noted that technology’s rising prominence has implications for the state’s traditional power structures. He stressed that a key focus must be on leveraging digital tools to empower the public and make government functions more accessible and responsive.

However, Mr. Doval also introduced a crucial security dimension to the discussion, cautioning that society must be protected from the cyber and other threats that new technologies inevitably bring. His address underscored a dual imperative: embrace the transformative benefits of technology while proactively safeguarding civil society from its associated risks.
