Rajnath Singh Meets US Secretary of War in Kuala Lumpur Amid Ongoing High-Level Engagements
Kuala Lumpur/New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today met with US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth in Kuala Lumpur, a continuation of high-level defence engagement between India and the US.
This significant meeting follows the discussions held on October 27 between External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Jaishankar described those talks, which covered bilateral ties, regional, and global issues, as an opportunity to deepen the India-US partnership.
The diplomatic and defence interactions coincide with ongoing trade negotiations. Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal recently reiterated India’s cautious approach, emphasizing that the country will not rush into agreements or accept terms that restrict its trading choices. He underscored the necessity of building long-term ties, trust, and sustainable frameworks in global commerce.
The consistent high-level engagements highlight India’s strategic effort to balance its defence, diplomatic, and economic interests in its crucial partnership with the United States.
