India Boosts Electronic Self-Reliance with New Manufacturing Plants Across Three States

This move marks a significant step towards reinforcing India’s domestic capabilities in core electronic components.

These seven approved projects collectively entail a total investment of ₹5,532 crore (Five thousand five hundred thirty-two crore rupees) and are expected to result in a total production worth ₹44,406 crore over the coming years. Furthermore, the projects are projected to generate over five thousand direct jobs, boosting employment in the high-tech manufacturing sector.

The components covered by the approved projects include crucial items such as Multi-Layer Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), High-Density Interconnect (HDI) PCBs, Camera Module Sub-Assemblies, Laminates, and Polypropylene Film. This diverse range of products directly addresses critical gaps, enhancing India’s self-reliance in the electronics value chain.

Speaking to the media in New Delhi, Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, confirmed the approval of the seven electronics components manufacturing plants. The Minister emphasized that these new plants are aimed at fulfilling domestic demand, a key objective of the national manufacturing push.

The units will be established in a geographically diverse manner, with projects slated for installation across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh. This regional spread is set to further strengthen India’s manufacturing depth and promote balanced industrial growth across the country.
