NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today amplified India’s core stance on global climate action, sharing an article that emphasizes Climate Justice as both a moral duty for India and a central pillar of the international effort.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO India) shared the article by Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri Bhupender Yadav, in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Responding to the original post by the Union Minister’s office, the PMO India handle stated:

“Union Environment Minister Shri @byadavbjp emphasises that for India, climate justice is a moral duty and central to global climate action.”

The shared post highlighted the Minister’s crucial demand in the ongoing global climate negotiations, which is a consistent position taken by India on the world stage:

“He highlights the need for fair, grant-based climate finance that recognises historical responsibilities and supports developing nations equitably.”

The act of the Prime Minister sharing the Environment Minister’s article underscores the unified position of the government, which calls on developed nations to take the lead in climate action.

Climate Justice, in India’s view, means that the nations that have historically contributed the most to global emissions must shoulder the primary responsibility for providing grant-based financial and technological assistance to developing countries, ensuring an equitable transition to a sustainable futur
