Over 170,000 Injured in Gaza Conflict; Rescue Teams Hampered by Devastation and Dangerous Conditions
GAZA STRIP: The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced today, Monday, that the cumulative death toll from the ongoing Israeli military aggression since October 7, 2023, has escalated to 68,527 martyrs, with 170,395 injured.
According to a statistical report released by the Ministry, the past 48 hours saw the admission of 8 recovered bodies from beneath the rubble and 13 new injuries to hospitals across the strip, highlighting the persistent danger despite the declared ceasefire.
The report noted that a significant number of victims remain trapped under the rubble and in the streets. Rescue and civil defense teams are largely unable to reach them due to the extensive structural destruction and perilous field conditions, suggesting the final casualty count could be higher.
Since the announcement of a ceasefire on October 11, the Ministry of Health has recorded 93 martyrs and 337 injuries. In addition, a total of 472 bodies have been recovered from various locations across the Gaza Strip since the start of the truce period.
The Ministry also confirmed that efforts to identify the remains of the deceased are ongoing. So far, 72 bodies have been identified out of a total of 195 bodies released by Israeli authorities and handed over to the Palestinian side.
