Diplomatic Snub: Delegates and New Yorkers Reject Netanyahu’s UN Speech on Day Four of General Debate

New York – Thousands of New Yorkers joined world diplomats in giving Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu the cold shoulder as he spoke at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Friday, reflecting the nation’s deepening international isolation. Protesters rallied on the streets of New York City against the Israeli leader, even as dozens of delegates marched out of the UN Assembly hall when he began his speech on the fourth day of the General Debate.

The scene inside the UN General Assembly hall was a stark illustration of the global backlash against Israel’s prolonged military campaign. As Prime Minister Netanyahu approached the podium, many seats in the General Assembly were left noticeably vacant as delegates from multiple nations carried out a coordinated walkout.

The action by the diplomats served as a clear message of disapproval regarding the country’s military conduct and the Prime Minister’s steadfast rejection of a two-state solution. While the US delegation remained present, its representation, along with that of the United Kingdom, was notably junior-level.

Outside the highly secured United Nations complex, the diplomatic snub was amplified by thousands of New Yorkers who gathered to demonstrate against the Israeli Prime Minister.

Protesters, organized by pro-Palestinian groups, filled the streets of New York City, chanting slogans that called for an end to the conflict and demanding accountability for the ongoing crisis. The demonstrations underscore that the opposition to Netanyahu’s policies extends far beyond the diplomatic elite and into the heart of a major global city.

“Israel has chosen a war against every conscientious human being in this world,” stated Nidaa Lafi, an organizer with the Palestinian Youth Movement, whose group helped organize the massive protest. (Source: Protests in New York City, September 26, 2025)

The dual actions—the diplomatic walkout and the street protests—ensured that Netanyahu’s address, delivered in defiance of growing international pressure, was framed by a powerful display of global rejection.
