PM Modi addresses Trinidad Parliament, highlights shared democratic values & centuries-old ties

NEW DELHI – Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the fourth edition of World Food India (WFI) 2025 on Thursday, September 25, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The mega global food event, organized by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), will run until September 28 and is a flagship initiative to showcase India’s burgeoning food processing sector to the world.

The event, which is being held across a sprawling 1,00,000 sq. meter area, is the largest of its kind in India and will bring together a vast network of stakeholders. With participation from over 21 countries, 21 Indian States and Union Territories, and 10 Central Ministries, World Food India 2025 is a testament to the government’s commitment to the food industry.

Speaking on the event, Union Minister of Food Processing Industries, Chirag Paswan, emphasized the strategic importance of the platform.

“World Food India is not merely a trade show, but a transformative platform to position India as a global hub for food innovation, investment, and sustainability. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, this event demonstrates our commitment to sustainable, inclusive, and future-ready food systems and strengthens India’s position as the Food Basket of the World.”

World Food India 2025 will feature a host of international and national partnerships. New Zealand and Saudi Arabia have been designated as Partner Countries, while Japan, Russia, UAE, and Vietnam will serve as Focus Countries, underscoring the event’s role in fostering global collaboration and trade.

In addition to the main exhibition, WFI 2025 will host several parallel events designed to deepen industry engagement and knowledge sharing:

The 3rd Global Food Regulators Summit by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), aimed at harmonizing global food safety standards.

The 24th India International Seafood Show by the Seafood Exporters Association of India (SEAI), highlighting India’s seafood export potential.

A Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet organized by APEDA, with the participation of over 1000 buyers.

The event is structured around five core pillars: Sustainability, India as a Global Food Processing Hub, New Technologies, Nutrition and Wellness, and the acceleration of the rural economy through livestock and marine products.

The event’s theme, “Processing for Prosperity,” reflects the ambition to leverage the food processing sector for greater economic growth, job creation, and enhanced farmer incomes. As part of the initiative, Minister Paswan also released a publication titled “Frequently Asked Questions on Different Concepts of Food Processing” to provide consumers with science-based information and dispel common myths about processed foods.
