New Delhi – India has expressed shock and deep regret over the recent killing of journalists in Gaza following an Israeli strike in Khan Younis. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has called the loss of lives “deeply regrettable” and stated that India has always condemned the loss of civilian lives in conflict zones.
In an official statement, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “The killing of journalists is shocking and deeply regrettable. India has always condemned the loss of civilian lives in conflict. We understand that the Israeli authorities have already instituted an investigation.”
The statement comes after a recent Israeli airstrike on a hospital in southern Gaza, which reportedly claimed the lives of several people, including five journalists working for various international news outlets. Following the incident, the Israeli Prime Minister’s office described the attack as a “tragic mishap” and confirmed that an inquiry was underway.
The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has reported that the ongoing conflict has been one of the deadliest in recent history for media workers, with hundreds of journalists killed since the beginning of the war, reports said. (ATP)
