WASHINGTON – The Trump administration has fired Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Kruse, director of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), along with two other high-ranking military commanders. The move is part of a broader effort to remove officials and install loyalists in top intelligence positions.
The firing of Kruse follows a DIA assessment that contradicted President Trump’s claims about the effectiveness of recent military strikes on Iranian nuclear sites. The agency’s report suggested the strikes only set back Iran’s nuclear program by a few months, a finding that prompted strong pushback from the administration. The other fired officials include Vice Adm. Nancy Lacore and Rear Adm. Milton Sands.
The dismissals are the latest in a series of similar actions targeting top military and intelligence officials, sparking concern among some lawmakers about the politicization of national security.
