New Delhi: India’s Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Anil Chauhan, and the Secretary of the Department of Military Affairs formally released declassified versions of the Joint Doctrines for Cyberspace Operations and Amphibious Operations. The release occurred during the Chiefs of Staff Committee meeting in New Delhi.

This move aims to increase the visibility and accessibility of these critical joint war-fighting concepts, providing a unified framework for the armed forces.

The Joint Doctrine for Cyberspace Operations outlines a comprehensive strategy to protect India’s national cyberspace interests. It emphasizes the integration of offensive and defensive cyber capabilities, real-time intelligence, and resilience-building across the three military services. The document also highlights the importance of a “whole of nation” approach, including collaboration with the private sector, academia, and research institutions to build a robust cyber ecosystem.

Meanwhile, the Joint Doctrine for Amphibious Operations establishes a framework for planning and executing complex operations that involve naval, air, and land forces. It focuses on enhancing interoperability, rapid response, and joint force application to project power from sea to land.

General Chauhan has also initiated the development of several new doctrines for emerging areas of warfare, such as Military Space Operations, Special Forces Operations, and Integrated Logistics. These doctrines will provide a common lexicon and guidelines for effective planning and execution of joint military operations in the future.
