Autopen Controversy Escalates as Trump Threatens to Void Executive Orders, Accuses Aides of Seizing Power

WASHINGTON D.C: US President Donald Trump yesterday announced on his Truth Social platform that he is cancelling all executive orders and any other documents that were not personally signed by former President Joe Biden, claiming they were illegitimately executed using an autopen.

Trump alleged that the autopen—a machine that mechanically replicates a signature—was used by Biden’s aides without the former President’s specific approval, stating, “The Autopen is not allowed to be used if approval is not specifically given by the President of the United States.”

He accused the former staff of taking the presidency away from Biden by operating the device illegally. Trump vowed to terminate all documents not signed directly by Biden, adding that if Biden claims he was involved in the autopen process, “he will be brought up on charges of perjury.”

Former US President Joe Biden has repeatedly denied accusations that he did not make his own decisions while in office, though the use of the autopen—a practice common among presidents, including Trump himself—has been the subject of ongoing political controversy and Congressional scrutiny.
