Prime Minister Seeks Citizen Commitment to Conserve Heritage, Environment, and Boost Swadeshi

UDUPI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today called on citizens to dedicate themselves to nine resolutions aimed at fostering a self-reliant India, while addressing devotees at the Sri Krishna Mutt in Udupi.
Seeking the support of seers, devotees, and the public, the Prime Minister outlined the following nine commitments for the national cause:
The Nine Resolutions

  • Water & River Conservation: Commit to conserving water resources and India’s rivers.
  • Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam: Participate in the ‘A Tree for Mother’ campaign.
  •  Poverty Upliftment: Uplift at least one poor person from poverty.
  • Swadeshi Movement: Encourage the Swadeshi (home-grown) movement to safeguard the economy and support Indian entrepreneurs.
  •  Natural Farming: Promote and encourage natural farming practices.
  •  Healthy Lifestyle: Lead a healthy lifestyle using Millets and incorporating Yoga into daily life.
  • Oil Usage Reduction: Resolve to reduce the use of oil (petroleum products).
  • Ancient Manuscript Conservation: Commit to the conservation and preservation of India’s ancient manuscripts and knowledge.
  • Heritage Tourism: Visit at least 25 places known for their heritage and traditions.
The Prime Minister drew inspiration from the Bhagavad Gita and Lord Krishna’s teachings, noting that principles like Sarvejana Sukhino Bhavantu (May all be happy) and Vasudaiva Kutumbakam (The world is one family) inspire flagship government programs such as Ayushman Bharat, PM Awas, Nari Shakti Abhiyan, and the Solar Alliance mission.
During his visit, the Prime Minister participated in a group recitation of the Gita (Gita Parayana) and inaugurated the gold-plated Tirtha Mantapa and dedicated the gold-plated Kanaka Kindi, a sacred window. Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot and other dignitaries were present, and the Udupi Putthige Mutt seer conferred the title of ‘Bharata Bhagya Vidhata’ upon the Prime Minister.
