President Launches Brahma Kumaris’ ‘Meditation for World Unity’ Theme

LUCKNOW: President Droupadi Murmu today announced that the Government of India is undertaking several crucial initiatives aimed at cultivating a more inclusive, peaceful, healthy, and value-based society. She made the remarks while launching the Brahma Kumaris’ annual theme for 2025-26, titled ‘Meditation for World Unity and Trust’.
Speaking at the ceremony, the President highlighted that India’s ancient philosophy of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (The world is one family) is more relevant than ever amidst current global challenges, and the Brahma Kumaris’ campaign will play an effective role in promoting this message.
President Murmu cited several government efforts aligned with these goals:
Global Promotion of Wellness: Spearheading the International Day of Yoga campaign to promote yoga and meditation globally.
Value-Based Education: Including a specific value-based education initiative within the National Education Policy (NEP).
Social Inclusion: Implementing programs dedicated to promoting women’s dignity and overall social inclusion.
The President urged citizens not only to focus on external progress but also to “look within,” playing their part in building a world founded on peace and trust.
On the same occasion, state Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the critical importance of controlling one’s mind, drawing from ancient Indian traditions. He noted that even global issues like terrorism are fundamentally an outcome of an out-of-control mind.
Following the launch, the President distributed the Flag and Kalash to 10 participants (five women and five men).
In the afternoon, President Murmu graced the closing ceremony of the diamond jubilee celebrations and the 19th National Jamboree of Bharat Scouts and Guides in Lucknow. This event, held in Lucknow after a 61-year gap, saw the participation of approximately 33,000 Scouts, Guides, Rovers, and Rangers from various Indian states and over 1,500 youth delegates from the Asia-Pacific region.
