Top Security Brass Gathers in Chhattisgarh for Three-Day Conference; PM Modi to Confer Police Medals
New Delhi/Raipur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled for a two-day visit to Chhattisgarh, beginning November 29, to participate in the 60th All India Conference of Director Generals/Inspector Generals of Police.
The three-day conference, running from November 28 to 30 at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Raipur, is a crucial forum for the nation’s top security and police brass. Its core objective is to review progress on key policing challenges and outline a forward-looking roadmap for building a Surakshit Bharat (Secure India) in alignment with the national vision of Viksit Bharat (Developed India).
Held under the theme ‘Viksit Bharat: Security Dimensions,’ the high-level meeting will host detailed deliberations on critical internal security issues. Key focus areas include strategies to combat Left-Wing Extremism (Naxalism), counter-terrorism efforts, cyber security, drug control, border management, and women’s safety. Discussions will also centre on the use of advanced tools like forensic science and Artificial Intelligence in policing.
The conference will be attended by a host of senior security administrators, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, and Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar. During his visit, the Prime Minister will also confer the prestigious President’s Police Medals for distinguished service. This marks the first time Chhattisgarh has hosted the annual national security conference, underscoring its strategic importance, particularly in anti-Naxal operations.
