CDS Gen Anil Chauhan and Royal Moroccan Navy Chief Review Steps to Boost Defence Cooperation
New Delhi:Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan held a key bilateral meeting yesterday with Rear Admiral Mohamed Tahin, Inspector General of the Royal Moroccan Navy, to review and strengthen the burgeoning India-Morocco defence cooperation.
The high-level interaction, which reaffirmed the steady progress in bilateral ties, focused on concrete measures to expand the partnership. Discussions centred on expanding avenues for defence exports from India, boosting collaboration among defence industries, and improving operational linkages through joint and multilateral exercises.
Maritime security cooperation was a significant focus, with the two sides reviewing mechanisms for capacity building, streamlined information sharing, and collaboration in emerging domains.
India reiterated its commitment to supporting the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces through various initiatives, including military training, Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) exercises, specialised courses, and professional military education.
Both General Chauhan and Rear Admiral Tahin expressed a strong commitment to developing a long-term framework to strengthen practical cooperation, enhance capabilities, and build mutually beneficial defence partnerships. The Indian Army also confirmed that the meeting covered ways to strengthen bilateral defence cooperation and review ongoing engagements between the two forces. This meeting follows the signing of a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on defence cooperation in September, which laid the foundation for an enhanced strategic partnership.
