In an official statement, the commission confirmed that the toll-free number acts as an easy-to-recall short code. This new number is directly connected to the NCW’s existing helpline infrastructure, ensuring women can seek assistance without any delay.
The launch of 14490 significantly strengthens the NCW’s ongoing efforts to provide immediate help to women facing issues such as violence, harassment, or any other form of distress. This initiative aims to make the commission’s support services more visible and reachable nationwide.
