Modi to Present ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ Vision at First G20 Summit on African Soil

New Delhi (ATP) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi today embarked on his visit to Johannesburg, South Africa, to attend the 20th G20 Leaders’ Summit. In his departure statement, Mr. Modi described the event as “particularly special” as it marks the first G20 Summit ever to be held in Africa.

According to reports, The Prime Minister stated that the summit will provide an important opportunity to discuss key global issues and present India’s perspective in line with the nation’s core philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (The World is One Family) and the vision of “One Earth, One Family, One Future.”

He noted that the African Union had become a permanent member of the G20 during India’s presidency in 2023, underscoring the forum’s increasing focus on the Global South.

Highlighting the host nation’s theme of “Solidarity, Equality and Sustainability,” Mr. Modi said South Africa has effectively carried forward the outcomes achieved in the previous Summits held in New Delhi (India) and Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).

In addition to the G20 deliberations, the Prime Minister announced he looks forward to interacting with leaders of partner countries and participating in the 6th IBSA Summit, scheduled to take place on the sidelines. He also expressed eagerness to meet with the Indian diaspora in South Africa, which represents one of the largest Indian communities outside the country.
