New Bihar Cabinet Sworn In After NDA’s Landslide Victory; PM Modi, Amit Shah Attend Oath Taking at Gandhi Maidan
PATNA: Janata Dal (United) Chief Nitish Kumar created history this morning by taking the oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar for a record 10th time. The swearing-in ceremony, held at the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna, followed the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) commanding victory in the recently concluded Bihar Assembly elections.
Bihar Governor Arif Mohammed Khan administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mr. Kumar. The event served as a major political show of strength for the NDA, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers Amit Shah and J. P. Nadda, LJP(R) President Chirag Paswan, and numerous other top leaders of the alliance.
A total of 27 Ministers, including the Chief Minister, were sworn in to the new Bihar government. The cabinet aims for a balance of power among the NDA constituents, reflecting the strong mandate received.
BJP leaders Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha were sworn in as Deputy Chief Ministers, and are expected to continue in their roles as Deputy Chief Ministers.
Key BJP leaders who took the oath included Dilip Jaiswal, Mangal Pandey, Nitin Nabin, and Ram Kripal Yadav.
From the JD(U) camp, ministers who took the oath included Leshi Singh, Shrowan Kumar, Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Zama Khan, and Ashok Chaudhary.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media to congratulate Nitish Kumar on his historic 10th term, noting that Mr. Kumar is an “experienced administrator with a proven track record of effective governance.”
The Prime Minister also extended his wishes to the new Deputy Chief Ministers, Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, acknowledging their “extensive grassroots work and commitment to public service.” He described the newly inducted cabinet as a “capable and dedicated team poised to lead the state toward new heights.”
Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan also greeted the new Chief Minister and his cabinet, expressing confidence that their collective leadership would usher in a “new era of sustained growth, good governance, inclusive development, and prosperity for the state.”
