Department of Youth Affairs Prioritizes Cleanliness, Pendency Reduction, and Administrative Efficiency
NEW DELHI: The Department of Youth Affairs has actively participated in the Special Campaign 5.0, a government-wide initiative spearheaded by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) aimed at promoting cleanliness, reducing pendency, and fostering administrative efficiency. The campaign ran from October 2nd to October 31st, 2025.
The Department viewed cleanliness as a holistic programme, extending the focus beyond official premises to include surrounding public areas and residential colonies. Key objectives were the prompt disposal of grievances, overall pendency reduction, and promoting a mindset oriented towards cleanliness.
During Phase I of the campaign (September 17th–30th, 2025), the Department successfully identified and targeted several categories of pending matters for resolution, including MP/VIP References, Parliamentary Assurances, Inter-Ministerial References, and Public Grievances.
In Phase II (October 2nd–31st, 2025), the cleanliness and space management activities yielded concrete results Space Freed: 2,560 sq. ft. of space was cleared and optimized. Revenue Generated: ₹40,301/- was generated through the disposal of scrap material.
To ensure maximum impact, the Department issued directions to all its autonomous bodies, including the National Service Scheme (NSS) and MY Bharat, as well as field officers. These bodies were tasked with reviewing pending Public Grievances, conducting various cleanliness drives, and actively disseminating messages.
Awareness activities on Swachhata (cleanliness) were seamlessly integrated with existing youth programmes and campaigns, including those planned under Sardar@150. This integration ensured wider outreach through the extensive volunteer networks of NSS, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), and MY Bharat. Field activities were documented through photos and videos and uploaded on social media platforms to highlight the works undertaken on Swachhata.
The Department reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining cleanliness, promoting sustainable waste management, and ensuring the efficient disposal of pending matters in alignment with the spirit of Swachh Bharat, Swasth Bharat.
