India Positioning Itself as a Global Biotech Leader: Minister Launches EIR Program
NEW DELHI: Science and Technology Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh today asserted that biotechnology has transcended pure laboratory research to deliver concrete, real-world solutions across vital sectors, including healthcare, agriculture, and industry.
The Minister made the remarks while addressing the celebration of the 2nd Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council (BRIC) Foundation Day in New Delhi.
Dr. Singh stated that, through both government and private sector initiatives, India has now positioned itself as a global leader in biotechnology. He added that the country is advancing through the “biotech corridor,” symbolizing a new era of scientific and technological advancement.
During the event, Dr. Singh officially launched the BRIC-BIRAC Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) Program.
The program is designed to empower young innovators, helping them translate their cutting-edge biotech ideas into successful ventures and further strengthening India’s innovation ecosystem.
