Over 170,000 Injured in Gaza Strip Since October 2023; Hundreds of Victims Remain Under Rubble
GAZA: Medical sources in the Gaza Strip announced today, Sunday, that the cumulative death toll resulting from the ongoing Israeli aggression, which began on October 7, 2023, has tragically risen to 69,176 martyrs. The sources confirmed that the vast majority of those killed are children and women.
The number of injuries since the start of the aggression has reached 170,690. Medical and civil defense teams face extreme difficulty as a significant number of victims are still trapped under the rubble, with rescue operations often unable to reach them due to the continuous hostilities and destruction.
Despite a ceasefire agreement that took effect on October 11 of last month, casualties have continued to mount. The toll of martyrs and injuries recorded since the ceasefire stands at 241 martyrs and 619 injured. Additionally, 528 bodies have been recovered during this period.
In the past 72 hours alone, hospitals across the Gaza Strip have received the bodies of seven martyrs (one new casualty and six retrieved from under the rubble), along with five new injuries.
The catastrophic figures underscore the scale of the humanitarian crisis gripping the Gaza Strip, as medical facilities struggle to cope with the overwhelming number of casualties and the ongoing blockade.
