PATNA: All arrangements have been finalized for the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections, with polling scheduled for tomorrow, November 6th. A total of 121 constituencies spread across 18 districts will go to the polls, determining the political fate of 1,314 candidates.
Elaborate security measures have been put in place by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to ensure free, fair, and peaceful polling across all segments.
Over 3.75 crore electors are eligible to cast their votes in this crucial phase. Among the contestants are 122 women candidates.
The 18 districts going to polls include key regions such as Patna, Vaishali, Nalanda, Bhojpur, Munger, Saran, Siwan, Gopalganj, and Muzaffarpur.
The polling process will commence at 7 a.m. and is scheduled to conclude at 6 p.m. However, due to prevailing security considerations, the polling time has been curtailed to 5 p.m. in several sensitive areas, including the Simri Bakhtiyarpur, Mahishi, Tarapur, Munger, and Jamalpur constituencies, and 56 polling booths of the Suryagarha Assembly segment.
A special control room has been established at the CEO’s Office in Patna for real-time monitoring. Citizens can register any grievances or complaints via phone, fax, or email to the CEO’s office.
Notably, internal competition exists within the Mahagathbandhan, with constituent parties like Congress, RJD, VIP, and CPI fielding candidates against each other in five seats, including Rajapakar, Bachwara, Beldaur, Gaura Boram, and Bihar Sharif. The newly floated Jan Suraj Party (JSP) has also fielded 119 candidates in this phase.
