NEW DELHI: India and China have agreed to continue employing existing dialogue mechanisms to resolve any ground issues along their shared border and maintain overall stability, according to a statement released by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

The decision was taken during the 23rd round of the India-China Corps Commander Level Meeting, which was held in a “friendly and cordial atmosphere” at the Chushul-Moldo border meeting point on October 25.

Following the high-level military talks, the two sides shared the view that peace and tranquillity have been maintained in their border areas.

The MEA noted that both nations reviewed progress achieved since the previous 22nd round of Corps Commander Level Meeting, which took place in October last year.

The talks mark a significant development, as the MEA confirmed this was the first meeting of the General Level Mechanism in the Western Sector since the 24th round of Special Representatives Talks. The continued emphasis on dialogue through established channels signals a mutual commitment to de-escalating tensions and managing the sensitive border situation effectively.
