India Demands Pakistan End ‘Grave Human Rights Violations’ in Illegally Occupied Kashmir

UNITED NATIONS : India has issued a strong call upon Pakistan to cease the “grave and ongoing human rights violations” in areas illegally occupied by it, particularly in parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
The demand was made by India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Parvathaneni Harish, during an open debate on ‘The United Nations Organization: Looking into the Future’ at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), organized yesterday to mark the 80th UN Day.
Reiterating India’s unwavering stance, Mr. Harish stressed that Jammu and Kashmir will always be an integral and inalienable part of India. He highlighted that while the people in the region exercise their fundamental rights in accordance with India’s democratic traditions, such democratic concepts are “alien to Pakistan.”
The Indian Permanent Representative also underscored India’s civilizational commitment to ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,’ the philosophy of seeing the world as one family. He stated that this outlook anchors India’s foreign policy and is the reason why India consistently advocates for justice, dignity, opportunity, and prosperity for all societies and peoples, placing faith in multilateralism and international cooperation.
Mr. Harish affirmed that India has consistently stood in solidarity with the Global South and will continue to support these nations with its expertise and long-standing experience across all domains. He concluded by urging all member states to join hands in realizing this vision to make the UN “fit for purpose for the new era.”
