Commerce Minister Goyal Optimistic on Early India-US Trade Deal Amid EU FTA Discussions in Germany
Berlin, Germany: Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal announced today that trade negotiations between India and the United States are making “steady progress.”
Speaking to Doordarshan from Germany, where he is currently on an official visit, Goyal expressed optimism that the two nations could reach a “fair and equitable trade agreement” in the near future.
The Minister confirmed that both sides are actively engaged in talks, with dedicated teams from India and the US working closely to advance the discussions. He highlighted the recent visit of India’s Commerce Secretary to the US, where meetings were held with counterparts to vigorously pursue the negotiations.
Goyal is currently in Germany to hold high-level discussions focusing on the India-EU Free Trade Agreement and other pressing trade-related matters.
His visit underscores India’s commitment to simultaneously strengthening trade ties across multiple key global partners, aiming to secure mutually beneficial economic arrangements that support India’s long-term growth.
