Bihar Polls: BJP Slams ‘Weak’ Mahagathbandhan Over Seat-Sharing Tussle and CM Aspirations Mahagathbandhan’s Seat Formula Criticised as ‘Very Weak’ by BJP MP

PATNA: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has sharply attacked the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) in Bihar, raising serious questions over its internal seat-sharing arrangement and pointing to a supposed lack of unity ahead of the state elections.

Senior BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad led the charge, terming the opposition alliance “very weak” after noting a significant discrepancy in their seat distribution. “There are 243 seats, and the alliance is contesting on 255 seats,” Mr. Prasad stated, highlighting an apparent overlap in constituencies being contested by coalition partners.

The criticism was amplified by BJP leader Pratul Shah Deo, who suggested that the opposition’s internal discord stems from the high personal ambitions of its leaders. “The opposition leaders’ personal ambitions are so high that every leader wants to become the Chief Minister,” Mr. Shah Deo remarked.

Furthermore, Mr. Shah Deo accused the Mahagathbandhan of failing to contribute to the development of Bihar. He contrasted this with the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), emphasizing the clarity and unified leadership within their coalition. “The NDA has made it clear that they are contesting the elections under the leadership of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar,” he asserted, reaffirming the alliance’s Chief Ministerial face.

The BJP’s remarks come as the political landscape in Bihar intensifies, with both major alliances finalising their strategies for the upcoming polls. The ruling NDA is projecting a unified front under the incumbent Chief Minister, while the opposition’s internal machinations continue to draw fire from the BJP camp.
