Wars of Tomorrow Will Be Fought with AI and Algorithms
New Delhi: Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh today challenged India’s defence innovators and startups to become “creators and standard-setters for the world,” urging them to produce the country’s first Defence Unicorn. Speaking at the ‘Raksha Navachar Samvaad: Interaction with iDEX Startups,’ prior to a National Conference at Vigyan Bhawan, the Minister highlighted the rapidly changing nature of warfare and India’s success in indigenization.
Rajnath Singh underscored that the modern battlefield has fundamentally changed, stating, “The wars of tomorrow will be fought with algorithms, autonomous systems and artificial intelligence.” He noted that technologies like drones, anti-drone systems, quantum computing, and directed-energy weapons will define the future of warfare. He pointed to Operation Sindoor as a recent example where such a technology demo was visible.
Calling upon innovators to “think beyond existing solutions,” the Minister stressed the need for India to move past imitation: “We must not remain imitators or followers in technology, we must become the creators and standard-setters for the world.”
