NEW DELHI: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to inaugurate a national-level conference on ‘Opportunities in Defence Manufacturing in the Country’ tomorrow, October 7, 2025, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The event, organized by the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence (MoD), aims to create a streamlined framework for achieving national self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
A key focus of the event will be the launch of two new digital platforms by the Defence Minister, designed to simplify business processes and enhance indigenous capabilities:
Defence Exim Portal: This new portal is specifically designed to streamline the process of issuing export and import authorisations, a move expected to significantly boost India’s defence trade.
Srijan DEEP (Defence Establishments and Entrepreneurs Platform) Portal: Srijan DEEP will function as a digital repository that maps the capabilities and products of Indian defence industries, promoting greater indigenisation and connecting entrepreneurs with defence establishments.
The conference will serve as a focused platform to strengthen coordination between the MoD and State/UT Governments. The core objective is to ensure that regional industrial policies and infrastructure development are fully aligned with the national goal of self-reliance, or ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’.
Senior officials from the Departments of Industries of all States and Union Territories will convene to discuss their crucial role in advancing India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem. Discussions will also highlight ongoing national efforts to boost indigenisation, enhance defence exports, and promote investment in the critical sector.
The event will also mark the official release of two significant publications: ‘Aerospace & Defence Sector Policy Compendium of States and Union Territories’ . The iDEX Coffee Table Book ‘Shared Horizons of Innovation’, which is expected to showcase the progress made under the Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX) initiative.
The launch of these digital platforms and publications underscores the government’s commitment to leveraging technology and cooperative federalism to transform India into a global defence manufacturing hub.
