NEW DELHI — Prime Minister Narendra Modi will begin a three-day, five-state tour tomorrow, from September 13 to 15, to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for numerous development projects. The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) announced that the projects across Mizoram, Manipur, Assam, West Bengal, and Bihar are collectively worth over ₹71,000 crore.
The tour will begin in Mizoram, where the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate projects valued at over ₹9,000 crore in Aizawl. These projects span crucial sectors including railways, roadways, energy, and sports. A significant highlight will be the inauguration of the Bairabi-Sairang New Rail line, which will connect the state capital of Aizawl to India’s national rail network for the first time. The Prime Minister will also flag off three new express trains to Delhi, Guwahati, and Kolkata, enhancing Mizoram’s connectivity with the rest of the country.
On the same day, Prime Minister Modi will visit Manipur, where he will lay the foundation stone for development projects worth more than ₹7,300 crore in Churachandpur. He will also inaugurate projects worth over ₹1,200 crore in Imphal, including the new Civil Secretariat, a new IT SEZ building, and the New Police Headquarters.
The tour’s next stop is Assam, where the Prime Minister will participate in the 100th birth anniversary celebrations of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika in Guwahati. In addition to addressing the gathering, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for major infrastructure and industrial development projects worth over ₹18,000 crore, including the Assam Bio-Ethanol Private Limited and a new Polypropylene Plant at the Numaligarh Refinery.
The final leg of the visit includes stops in West Bengal and Bihar. In Kolkata, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the 16th Combined Commanders’ Conference, a key forum for the armed forces. He will then proceed to Bihar, where he is scheduled to inaugurate the new terminal building of Purnea airport and launch the National Makhana Board. In Purnea, he will also inaugurate and lay the foundation for development projects worth around ₹36,000 crore.
