TIANJIN, CHINA — Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India met today with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Tianjin, China. The meeting focused on strengthening the bilateral relationship and addressing key regional and global issues.
During their discussion, the two leaders reviewed the progress in economic, financial, and energy cooperation, expressing satisfaction with the continued growth in these sectors.
The conversation also touched upon the latest developments concerning Ukraine. Prime Minister Modi reiterated his support for recent peace initiatives and emphasized the urgent need for a cessation of the conflict to achieve a durable peace settlement.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between India and Russia. Prime Minister Modi also conveyed that he is looking forward to hosting President Putin in India for the 23rd Annual Summit later this year.
This meeting comes as both nations seek to deepen their collaboration across various domains while navigating complex international dynamics.
