ECI: No Political Party Objections to Bihar Electoral Roll Revision So Far

New Delhi – The Election Commission of India (ECI) today announced that, 14 days into the “Claims and Objections” period for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, no political party has yet submitted any claim or objection.

Despite significant public and political debate surrounding the SIR exercise in Bihar, the ECI noted that while it has received 23,557 claims and objections directly from individual electors concerning the Draft Roll, political parties have remained silent on the formal objection process, reports said.

The Special Intensive Revision aims to create an accurate and error-free electoral roll by conducting a thorough, often house-to-house, verification process. The Draft Electoral Roll for Bihar was published on August 1, 2025, initiating the period for claims and objections, which allows citizens and political parties to seek additions, deletions, or corrections to the voter list. The final roll is expected by September 30, 2025.

The ECI has previously highlighted its efforts to engage all stakeholders, including political parties and their Booth Level Agents (BLAs), in the revision process, providing them with access to draft rolls and relevant data. (ATP)
