Baramulla : As part of the ongoing Good Governance Week, a one-day awareness programme on Labour Codes and governance initiatives was organized Wednesday at the BDO Office, Singhpora, District Baramulla.
The programme was chaired by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Pattan, Gulzar Ahmad, who addressed the gathering and highlighted the significance of Good Governance Week in promoting transparency, accountability, and citizen-centric service delivery. The SDM emphasized the importance of creating awareness among workers about their rights and welfare measures.
The Assistant Commissioner Labour (ACL), Rahil Amin, while speaking on the occasion, highlighted key provisions of the Labour Codes and sensitized participants about various labour welfare schemes, including the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PMSYM) Scheme and Jammu and Kashmir Building and Other Construction Workers (JKBOCW) Welfare Schemes, focusing on eligibility, benefits, and registration procedures.
In the presence of the Assistant Commissioner Labour, the SDM distributed Labour Cards among eligible beneficiaries, facilitating their access to social security and welfare schemes.
The programme witnessed active participation from labourers, officials, and members of the public, reaffirming the district administration’s commitment to effective implementation of labour welfare initiatives under the Good Governance framework.
