Bandipora : The Department of Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare Saturday organised a District-level Sensitisation and Educational Workshop under the Project and Knowledge Management component of the Annual Work Plan & Budget (AWPB) 2025–26 of the Jammu & Kashmir Climate Innovation Project (JKCIP).
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, highlighted the crucial role of agriculture and environmental balance in sustaining life. Drawing a powerful analogy, she remarked that just as the world would face serious problems if honeybees stopped their work due to the breakdown of pollination, discontinuation of farming would similarly lead to grave challenges for society.
Acknowledging the hurdles faced by youth in adopting farming as a livelihood, the Deputy Commissioner urged them not to get demotivated, emphasising that agriculture is a highly valuable and potentially high-earning profession. She appealed to those engaged in farming to take pride in their work, stating that “what is common for you is special for me and for others.”
Emphasising conservation, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the urgent need to preserve natural resources, particularly water, describing it as the most precious blessing. She called upon all participants to actively contribute towards water conservation under JKCIP.
She further informed that the project will be implemented in three phases, beginning with awareness, followed by capacity-building training, and culminating in the preparation of action plans by youth clubs aimed at promoting sustainable agricultural and environmental practices.
The workshop witnessed active participation from district-level officers of the Agriculture and allied departments, members of youth clubs, progressive farmers, and other stakeholders, who engaged in meaningful discussions on sustainable farming practices and climate resilience.
