KVIB organizes One-Day Workshop to strengthen Entrepreneurship Dev, Financial Inclusions under JKREGP, PMEGP

Srinagar : The Jammu & Kashmir Khadi & Village Industries Board Tuesday organized one-day workshop at Institute of Hotel Management Rajbagh Srinagar aimed at critically evaluating the implementation of PMEGP and JKREGP to ascertain the viewpoint of various stakeholders to improve the reach of these schemes to aspirant micro and village industries.
The workshop was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Shopian, Deputy General Manager Agri and MSME credit JAK Bank. Lead District Managers, Director RSETs and Cluster Heads of all districts, representatives from industries-Commerce Department Kashmir, line departments and KVIC
Speaking on the occasion Additional District Development Commissioner Shopian, highlighted the role and relevance of successful and smooth implementation of schemes being implemented by J&K KVIB in mitigating unemployment amongst the youth and artisans. He asked the educated youth to come forward and avail benefits of the employment generation programmes being implemented by KVIB in mitigating unemployment amongst the youth and artisans.
It was informed that during the year 2024-25 Margin Money to the tune of Rs 112.73 crore was released for establishment of 4691 units thereby creating employment opportunities for 37528 entrepreneurs under PMEGP and Margin Money to the tune of Rs 25.42 crore was released for establishment of 970 units thereby creating employment opportunities for 5820 persons under JKREGP. During the last five years out of the total number of 35902 established units 13940 units (39%) are only Women entrepreneurs.
Deputy CEO KVIB Kashmir lauded the efforts of J&K KVIB and stated that these schemes are popular amongst the youth. He said that both the schemes are implemented through online mode through respective Online Portals.
Deputy CEO KVIB Kashmir highlighted the importance of the workshop and expressed his gratitude to Banks for their support and stated that J&K Bank has played a pioneering role in implementation of PMEGP and JKREGP and has been adjusted as “the best performing bank” under these schemes.
The outstanding performance of District Shopian and District Baramulla was acknowledged and appreciated and these districts were presented “Best Performing Districts” under JKREGP & PMEGP respectively. Subsequently, the mementos were awarded to the respective District Development Commissioners (Shopian & Baramulla) for their best performance under the schemes.
