Indian Dominance: Women’s Kabaddi Team Defeats Chinese Taipei 35-28 to Retain World Crown

Dhaka, Bangladesh : The Indian Women’s Kabaddi Team solidified its supremacy on the global stage by securing its second consecutive Women’s Kabaddi World Cup title in Dhaka. In a commanding final performance, India defeated a tenacious Chinese Taipei side with a decisive score of 35-28, capping an undefeated run throughout the 11-nation tournament.

India’s path to the gold medal was marked by clinical efficiency. The team swept all four of its group-stage matches before delivering a strong performance in the knockout rounds, overcoming Iran 33-21 in the semi-finals.

Chinese Taipei also demonstrated exceptional form, reaching the final with an unbeaten record, having topped Group B and defeated hosts Bangladesh 25-18 in their semi-final clash. The final saw a thrilling contest between the two unbeaten sides, with India ultimately prevailing to retain the world crown.

The victory has drawn widespread national praise. Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the champions, taking to social media to commend the team’s stellar display of “outstanding grit, skills and dedication.”

The Prime Minister emphasized the broader impact of the triumph, stating that the team’s achievement “will inspire countless youngsters to pursue Kabaddi, dream bigger and aim higher.”

The 2025 World Cup showcased the growing international reach of the sport, with 11 countries competing for the title, culminating in a historic final at the Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium in Dhaka.
