Impactful Environmental Plantation Drive held at GBHS Barsoo

PULWAMA: A highly impactful Environmental Plantation Drive combined with a vibrant Cultural Event was today organised at Government Boys High School (GBHS) Barsoo, Awantipora today.

The program was organized by IRP-23rd Battalion in collaboration with Forest Department under Civic Action Programme.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation including students, teaching staff, Forest Department employees, and other members from the local community.

The initiative aimed to foster environmental awareness and promote cultural heritage among the youth and local residents. The plantation drive was spearheaded in collaboration with the Forest Department, highlighting the need to conserve the environment and inspiring the attendees to contribute actively towards building a greener future. Native saplings were planted in the school premises, with expert guidance provided to students and staff on sustainable plantation techniques and long-term care of trees.

The lively cultural event showcased the diverse talents of the students through various performances, including music, dance, and art displays. Participants who demonstrated exceptional skills and performances were felicitated with prizes to encourage continued engagement and development of their talents.

The Forest Department officials conducted interactive environmental sessions and addressed the importance of sustainable practices in daily life. The event provided an excellent platform for dialogue, collaboration, and learning, reinforcing the significance of environmental stewardship and cultural preservation.

The pledge taken by participants to care for the planted saplings and uphold environmental values marked a promising step forward for sustainable development in the region.

The commitment of the IRP-23rd Battalion and the Forest Department to ongoing support, training, and resources for these initiatives was reaffirmed, ensuring continued progress toward a greener and culturally enlightened society.
