Kupwara : Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Shrikant Suse, Friday chaired a meeting of the District Level Implementation Committee (DLIC) to review the progress achieved under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), the Jammu and Kashmir Competitiveness Improvement in Agriculture and Allied Sectors Project (JKCIP) and also reviewed the functioning of Kisan KhidmatGhars (KKGs) in the district.
During the meeting, it was informed that 7,559 units have been established across Kupwara under HADP. These units cover a wide range of sectors, including Agriculture, Horticulture, Horticulture (P&M), Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries, and Sericulture.
Under JKCIP, the committee was apprised that 22 units have been set up across three blocks viz. Magam, Sogam, and Qadirabad, benefiting farmers and stakeholders in agriculture and allied activities.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasised that HADP and JKCIP are major initiatives strengthening farmer’s access to modern infrastructure, sustainable agricultural practices, and diversified livelihood opportunities.
On the occasion, the Committee approved 656 cases under HADP which include 402 of Agriculture department, 6 of Fisheries, 24 of Sheep Husbandry, 92 of Animal Husbandry, 46 of Horticulture and 89 cases of Sericulture department. Under JKCIP, 186 cases were approved which include 170 of Agriculture, 6 of Sheep Husbandry and 10 cases of Horticulture department.
The DC also directed the departments to propose area specific projects in vibrant villages for the benefit of farmers of border areas.
The DC directed all concerned officers to ensure the speedy implementation of approved cases and extend comprehensive handholding support to beneficiaries so that the schemes yield maximum impact on the ground.
Detailed discussions also held regarding functioning of Kisan Khidmat Ghar (KKG).Chief Agriculture Officer (CAO) briefed the DC about the operational status of KKGs, availability of IT and Non IT infrastructure and issuance of seed, fertilizer and pesticide licenses to KKG holders.
The DC emphasised on special measures to increase average daily transactions and average daily income of KKGs. He highlighted the pivotal role of Kisan KhidmatGhars in bridging the gap between farmers and various agricultural schemes and services. He stressed the need for strengthening these grassroots institutions to ensure timely and efficient delivery of farmer-centric initiatives.
The meeting was attended by the CPO, Chief Agriculture Officer Kupwara, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, DSHO, AMO, AD Fisheries, and other concerned officers.
