India Crushes Pakistan by Eight Wickets in Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind

COLOMBO: The Indian women’s team delivered a commanding performance to defeat Pakistan by eight wickets in a high-voltage clash at the Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind on Sunday. Played at the Katunayake BOI Grounds in Colombo, the victory marks India’s fifth consecutive win in the tournament, solidifying their momentum toward the semi-finals.

Chasing a target of 136, India showcased exceptional batting power, achieving the target for the loss of just two wickets in a mere 10 overs.

India’s reply was explosive from the outset. Skipper Deepika TC set a brisk pace with a quickfire 45 runs, providing the strong platform needed for the swift chase.

However, the star of the day was Anekha Devi, whose authoritative and unbeaten knock of 64 runs guided India home with ease. Devi’s match-winning performance earned her the Player of the Match award.

Earlier, Pakistan, playing only their second match of the tournament, were bowled out for 135. Their innings suffered a dramatic collapse in the top order, which left them reeling at 23 for 4.

A superb 66 from Mehreen Ali and a fighting 44 from Bushra Ashraf managed to add a measure of respectability to the total. However, the Pakistani innings was consistently undermined by India’s sharp fielding, which resulted in a remarkable seven run-outs.

The dominant victory underscores India’s status as a top contender in the tournament as they head into the knockout stage.
