Proteas Spinner Dominates Pakistan Tour, Sweeping Player of the Series and October’s Top ICC Honour
DUBAI, UAE:The International Cricket Council (ICC) today named South Africa’s left-arm spinner Senuran Muthusamy as the Men’s Player of the Month for October 2025, recognizing his exceptional all-round performance during the recent Test tour of Pakistan.
The 31-year-old beat out fellow nominees, Noman Ali of Pakistan and Rashid Khan of Afghanistan, to claim his first ICC Player of the Month honor, which was complemented by the Player of the Series award in the two-match Test draw.
Muthusamy was the pivotal figure in the 1-1 drawn series, cementing his role as a key player in the reigning ICC World Test Championship-winning side. Across the two matches, He scored 106 runs at a formidable average of 53.00, He also claimed 11 wickets at an impressive average of 18.36.
In First Test, Despite a South African loss, Muthusamy delivered career-best match figures of 11/174, taking six wickets in the first innings and five in the second.
In Second Test,He showcased his batting prowess by anchoring the innings with an unbeaten 89—his highest Test score to date. This knock, featuring crucial lower-order partnerships with Keshav Maharaj and Kagiso Rabada, helped secure a vital first-innings lead and ultimately a series-leveling victory.
On receiving the prestigious award, Muthusamy expressed pride in his performance in the game’s longest format.
“It feels incredible to be named the Player of the Month by the ICC, especially for performances in Test cricket, a format every player aspires to excel in,” Muthusamy said. “I was privileged to be part of such a competitive series in Pakistan and am happy to have contributed with both ball and bat.”
With the series drawn, the South African team now sits fourth in the current World Test Championship standings, with Muthusamy’s consistent and impactful showings making him a cemented figure in the Proteas’ red-ball setup.
