Property Damaged in Lower Dir While Pacer Is Away on National Duty
LOWER DIR, Pakistan:The residence of national cricketer Naseem Shah in Mayar, Lower Dir, was targeted by unidentified gunmen late Sunday night or early Monday, police confirmed. The firing incident occurred while the fast bowler was away in Rawalpindi, preparing for Pakistan’s upcoming international fixtures.
According to Police, the assailants targeted the main entrance and windows of Shah’s residence. A parked vehicle on the property also sustained damage during the attack.
“The firing damaged the main gate, windows, and a vehicle at the property. Police reached the scene, and five suspects have been taken into custody,” police stated. “Mayar Police Station has registered a case, and further action is underway to arrest those involved.”
Authorities have assured that Naseem Shah’s family remained safe during the incident, as the property was largely unoccupied. Initial police investigation suggests the attack is likely linked to a land dispute or local enmity rather than terrorism.
Naseem Shah is currently with the national team in Rawalpindi, where they are scheduled to take on Sri Lanka in a three-match ODI series from November 11 to 15. Following that, he will represent Pakistan in the T20I tri-series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, scheduled to be played in Rawalpindi and Lahore from November 17 to 29.
