Young Pacer Newman Nyamhuri Steps in as Chevrons Prepare for Lahore, Rawalpindi Campaign
HARARE: Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) on Monday announced its 15-member squad for the upcoming T20I tri-series against hosts Pakistan and Sri Lanka, scheduled to run from November 17 to 29.
The squad, captained by all-rounder Sikandar Raza, features only one forced change from the team that recently competed in the home series against Afghanistan. Pace spearhead Blessing Muzarabani has been ruled out due to a back injury, with 19-year-old pacer Newman Nyamhuri stepping in as his replacement.
The Zimbabwe squad, commonly known as the Chevrons, blends experience with emerging talent as they prepare for next year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Sikandar Raza (c), Brian Bennett, Ryan Burl, Graeme Cremer, Bradley Evans, Clive Madande, Tinotenda Maposa, Wellington Masakadza, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Tony Munyonga, Tashinga Musekiwa, Dion Myers, Richard Ngarava, Newman Nyamhuri and Brendan Taylor.
The inclusion of young Newman Nyamhuri, a left-arm fast-medium bowler who was the leading wicket-taker for the Zimbabwe Under-19s at the 2024 World Cup, provides the team with a new fast-bowling option in the absence of the injured Muzarabani.
