NIA Takes Over Delhi Blast Probe; DGP Jammu and Kashmir also joined the crucial assessment virtually

NEW DELHI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah today chaired a high-level security review meeting at his residence following the devastating car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort last evening, which has now officially been handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for a comprehensive probe.

The blast, which occurred in a slow-moving Hyundai i20 car near the Lal Qila Metro Station on Monday evening, tragically killed eight people and injured several others.

The meeting, held at the Home Minister’s residence, brought together the nation’s top security and intelligence leadership, including the Union Home Secretary, the Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), the Delhi Police Commissioner, and the Director General of the NIA. The Director General of Police of Jammu and Kashmir also joined the crucial assessment virtually.

Separately, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh addressed the nation, vowing swift retribution for the attack. Speaking at the Delhi Defence Dialogue today, Singh expressed his condolences for the victims and assured the public: “Those responsible for Delhi car blast will be brought to justice and will not be spared under any circumstances.”

He confirmed that leading investigative agencies are conducting a “swift and thorough inquiry” and that the findings will soon be made public.

Delhi Police have registered a case under stringent anti-terror laws, including the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Explosives Act, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
