Jammu: Deputy Commissioner Jammu Dr. Rakesh Minhas Saturday chaired a review meeting to assess the progress of Rural Development Department works being executed under District Capex and flagship schemes – Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Grameen) and Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen).

Dr. Minhas conducted a block-wise review of ongoing rural development works and directed officers to ensure achievement of targets under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) and SBM(G). He also instructed to initiatie works promoting village sanitation and rural livelihood enhancement.

The Deputy Commissioner issued strict directions to expedite expenditure under the District Capex budget, ensuring that all RDD works allotted are executed without delay. He emphasised that land related issues must be resolved on priority by the concerned Tehsildars to avoid delays in execution. Officers were also instructed to take up supplementary plan works immediately and ensure timely completion of all projects on the ground.

While reviewing the physical and financial progress of ongoing RDD schemes, Dr. Minhas underscored the need for strict monitoring, inter departmental coordination, and transparency in execution to ensure that the benefits of government programmes reach rural citizens effectively. He further stressed that PMAY (G) targets must be achieved within stipulated timelines and all works should reflect visible impact at the grassroots level.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner, Sher Singh, Assistant Commissioner, Anmol Rathore, Chief Planning Officer, Ajaypal Singh, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Shehzada Noor ul Ain, Assistant Commissioner Development, Danish Rasool Mir, Block Development Officers besides other concerned officers.
